Doug Gonzalez, Partner at LERA Consulting Structural Engineers has been appointed a Co-Chair of the New York Building Congress's Public Building & Procurement Committee. He is joined by Co-Chair Michael Shamma, P.E., Sam Schwartz Engineering – a TY Lin Company.
PUBLIC BUILDING & PROCUREMENT COMMITTEE The Public Building & Procurement Committee monitors the New York City School Construction Authority, New York City Department of Design and Construction, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, DASNY, and other builders of public facilities in New York City. The committee also focuses on efforts to make public procurement and construction practices more efficient and productive.

The Public Building & Procurement Committee hosted their first event of 2024, a discussion on NYC EDC’s "Clean and Circular: Design & Construction Guidelines".
EDC Speakers Zack Aders, Director of Sustainable & Construction and Gizem Karagoz, Senior Project Manager, Green Economy) presented their work at the New York City Economic Development Corporation to advance circular construction.
The SPARC Kips Bay project will be one of the activation projects for the program, the design team includes LERA as structural engineer with architects Ennead and Dattner.
NYBC members held a vibrant discussion on the new circular design program and what the industry can expect on decarbonization and resiliency efforts.
