Engineer of the Moment: Pravin Reddy
This month's "Engineer of the Moment" is Pravin Reddy of LERA’s Mumbai office. Pravin grew up in Hyderabad in the southern Indian state of Telangana, a city known for its signature biryani cuisine. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Osmania University College of Engineering in Hyderabad, and his master's degree from IIT Madras in Chennai. As an undergraduate student, he most enjoyed structural analysis and design courses, and so he decided to pursue a career in structural engineering.
Now a Senior Engineer at LERA's Mumbai office, he enjoys working on projects that pose difficult structural challenges and offer a wide scope for learning. Currently, he is working on a two-tower, mixed-use development located in Worli, Mumbai. Working in the role of Project Engineer for the past two years, he has grown professionally as the project has progressed, gaining from his experience taking part in the Construction Administration phase, conducting regular site inspection visits and learning about the ins and outs of retrofitting. Another of his favorite projects is the Shrimad Rajchandra Ashram, where he was involved in the design of large balcony framing of a meditation hall.
Outside of the office, Pravin is an avid cricket player, and served as Team Captain of LERA's cricket team for the 2017 Engineer's Premier League, a competitive cricket league composed of teams from various architecture, engineering and construction firms. Similar to baseball, cricket involves a pitcher, or "bowler," a batter and a number of fielders. Pravin played for multiple school teams throughout his academic career, either as an opening batsman or part-time bowler. He credits Sachin Tendulkar, former India captain and widely regarded as one of the greatest batsman of all time, for inspiring his lifelong passion for the sport. He is a devoted fan of the world-famous Indian National Cricket Team, and also supports his hometown club, Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are currently third place in the Indian Premier League.
