Pingtan Museum
The Pingtan Art Museum will be the largest private museum in Asia upon completion, with a construction area of over 40,000 sm (430,000 sf). Acting as a smaller scale island off of Pingtan Island, the museum “floats” in the harbor, connected to land only by a slightly undulating pier, which bridges the new cultural district and urban center.
Constructed with concrete blended with local sand shells, the museum’s design prioritizes harmony with nature, doubling as a serene public gathering space and mimicking the surrounding mountains in form.
